WE’RE EXCITED TO HAVE YOU WITH US AGAIN OR FOR THE very FIRST TIME

WE’RE LOCATED AT 295 YOUNG STREET, TRURO, NS. OUR SERVICES START AT 10AM.

Explore below to learn about what you can expect on Sundays at Immanuel.

  • Parking

We have a large parking lot with ample space.

    Coming inside

Our building is wheelchair accessible. There are no ramps or steps up. Everything is on one level. The downstairs youth area has an elevator.

Come to the front doors under the carport that have “Welcome” written across them. When you come in, you’ll be greeted by one or more of our greeters. There are places to hang up your coats. Then you can proceed to the worship centre.

    Seating

You can sit anywhere you like in the worship cente. Our people are not worrisome about where they sit on a given Sunday. You won’t be in “somebody’s seat.”

    Atmosphere

You’ll notice the atmosphere is very pleasant. Lots of kids are usually running around and people are talking to one another. This is not a quiet church. We think it’s important to enjoy yourself when you come to Church. Feel free to bring a cup of coffee, snacks for your kids, or whatever you like. There’s no problem having food or drinks in our worship centre.

    The Music

Most of our music is led by our worship team, which may consist of singers, acoustic guitar, bass guitar, piano, and drums. We believe in learning and singing new songs, but we also love the great hymns of faith. Some people will raise their hands as they worship and many will not. We are open to various expressions of worship. Please feel free to worship in a way that is meaningful to you.

    The Offering

We do not take up an offering at Immanuel. We’re not after your money. If you would like to contribute to the work of our church there are offering plates at the back of the worship centre where you can drop in a contribution, or you can utilize one of several online options: immanueltruro.org/give

    Sharing and Prayer

Sometimes we include a time of sharing and prayer in the service. This is an opportunity for anyone to make a prayer request or share about something from their life. Then a pastor or other leader will lead in prayer.

    The Sermon

Our Pastor’s sermons are interesting and engaging. He preaches straight from the Bible and addresses relevant issues in our lives. He will keep your attention.

    Communion

Usually once a month we celebrate the Lord’s Supper (Communion). Anyone is welcome to participate in Communion with us, regardless of church background, as long as they are Christians seeking to follow Jesus.

How long will the service be?

Our services start at 10am and usually run until about 11:15am.

    What happens after the service?

Following the service you’re invited to continue to socialize in the Immanuel Cafe with free tea and coffee (local favourite Aroma Maya), for as long as you wish. Most people are not in a hurry to leave. If you’re new and would like to get more connected you can stop by the welcome centre by the front doors and fill out a connection card. The connection card can also be completed online. The Pastor is typically available in the lobby after the service if you’d like to chat with him.

    What should I wear?

There is nothing in Scripture that demands we dress in nice clothes for Church. Jesus was a homeless traveler during his ministry, and probably didn’t have nice clothes. When you come to church, please dress in a way that you are comfortable. You will not see men wearing suits and ties at our church, women will sometimes wear dresses / skirts but many do not. Come as you are.

    What about my children?

We offer nursery care during the service in a really fantastic space. We also have a kid’s program in “Discovery Park” (age 4 – Grade 6) which takes place after the first portion of the main service. Kids will be dismissed by the pastor at the appropriate time. Children are not required to go to Discovery Park; they may stay with you during the service if you would prefer.
