Dear Friends,

LifelinesThis week, I had the opportunity to serve at a Habitat for Humanity project.  One of my tasks was to paint some decorative scroll work at the top of an old building being restored as a homeless shelter.

I'm a little nervous about heights, and it happened that I was working about 30 feet off the ground.  But it was no problem - there was an amazing system of scaffolding that surrounded me and supported me.

The "Lifelines" we've been exploring in our current message series are like spiritual scaffolding.  They are practices that nourish, shape and renew.  They surround us, support us and centre us as we get exposed to everyday risks in everyday tasks.

Here's a recap of where we've been so far and where we're going:

Aug 15: "Read"
Aug 22: "Speak"
Aug 29: "Meet"
Sept 5:  "Serve"

See you this Sunday at 9:00 and 10:30 a.m..  (Remember, parents, that Discovery Park happens at 10:30 a.m.)

Have a great weekend!

Joy and Peace,

Jody Linkletter sent me the results of her fundraiser last weekend.  Over $1100 was raised for her mission trip to Mozambique.  Great work, Immanuel!  Jody asked me to explain that those who would still like to give can do so through their regular church envelope by indicating "Africa 2010".

Sorry I missed connecting with all of you this past Sunday.  I was feeling horrible in the early morning and I actually had to visit the ER for a few hours.  However, it was all resolved quickly and I was back home later that day.  On Monday, I was right as rain.

Thanks for your prayers and thoughtful concern - and I'll see you this weekend.
