Rev. Cory Somers, B. Sc. M. Div., Lead Pastor Cory’s the new kid on the block at Immanuel. He joined Immanuel’s team in January 2009. A grad of Dal in Halifax and Ontario Theological Seminary in Toronto, he served for 12 years in ministry on PEI before arriving on the scene here in Truro. Cory believes that his greatest asset is his family. He is married to Sandra and they have six beautiful, active children: Maggy, Emma, Jack, Will, Jenny and Luke. Cory loves big families, which really gels with his passion to lead Immanuel’s family to grow, too. On the side, Cory’s a huge fan of NFL Football (sorry, all you CFL fans!). Invite him to play a game of tennis or badminton sometime.
Rev. Micah Linkletter, B. A., M. Div., Pastor of Young Adults, Youth, and Childrens Ministry
After completing seven years of schooling and receiving a Bachelor's of Religious Studies and a Youth Leadership Certificate from Atlantic Baptist University, and a Masters of Divinity from Acadia, Micah joined the team at Immanuel Baptist in February 2004 as the Associate Pastor of youth and small groups. Most recently, he has begun work with the children and young adult ministries as well. He loves to see others come to know the Lord and has a passion for leading them in a deeper relationship with our Saviour. An islander at heart, Micah grew up on a family potato farm on Prince Edward Island and has a rich heritage in the Christian faith. Many of Micah’s illustrations are rooted in agriculture, helping to give new light to ones found throughout the Scriptures. Micah is married to Jody Linkletter, Associate Director of Youth & Family Ministries, at CABC. Some would say that Micah is child at heart who has been cleverly disguised as an adult. He loves to have fun whether that is playing the bass in worship teams, playing paintball, working on computers, playing video games or simply spending time with people.
Lynn Erskine, B.A. , Pastor of Worship and Small Groups
Lynn Erskine serves as the associate pastor of worship and small groups at IBC. He grew up in a ministry home, often participating in worship ministry in his home church. His musical family provided him with many musical opportunities from a young age, and Lynn early discerned God's plan for those opportunities to be used to serve God. While training for worship ministry at Bethany Bible College (Sussex, NB) and Asbury Theological Seminary (Wilmore, KY), Lynn developed a passion to see people come to know Jesus and to draw nearer to Him daily. Thus, the ministry of worship and small groups flows from Lynn's impression that God is pursuing people with His love, ready to give us security in Him in a life that will last forever! Lynn likes Jesus! Lynn likes Music! Oh, and he went to Acadia Divinity College last year (full time!) while working here at IBC! He is an awesome voice and piano teacher and has a BEAUTIFUL wife and 2 GORGEOUS daughters!
