Our Deacons PDF Print E-mail

Welcome!

The deacons of Immanuel Baptist Church appreciate your visit to this web-site. We invite you to worship with us on Sundays at 9:15 a.m. for Contemporary Worship or at 11:00 a.m. for a more "Traditional" worship experience. Whether you are a visitor or a long-time member or anywhere in between, we hope you find a welcome, a sense of belonging, and an awareness of the presence and activity of God at Immanuel.

Feel free to contact a deacon or pastor if we can provide information or if we can help you in any way.

What is a deacon?

The word "deacon" basically means a servant. This position or office has been part of the church since the earliest days; the Greek word for deacon occurred about 30 times in the original manuscripts of the New Testament. (Some churches use the word elder instead of deacon.)

Deacons are partners in Christian service with our pastors and serve as counsellors and assistants to the pastors in the administration of the spiritual affairs of the church. Deacons are set apart to serve God and others. According to God's word (the Bible), deacons are to be examples in spirit, love, devotion, and loyalty. Deacons serve as persons who care.*
